Our returning customer came back with another car this time. The Toyota Vios is a really nice car to do a head unit upgrade since its pretty much the same across many Toyota’s.
To install a 2 DIN head unit, we had to add side spacers to fill the gaps as the 2 DIN is about 180mm wide versed the dash kit opening which is 200mm. Not a big deal but some trimming and adjustment to the spacers will be needed for it to be mounted properly.
The head unit, JVC KW-M590BT is the successor to the former best seller, JVC KW-M560BT. We do see some improvements in the UI/UX and are also impressed by the mirroring app. Will it remain stable for long, only time will tell as OS updates can sometimes mess with this functionality.
We still prefer using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as it is quick and reliable. Plus we here are not big on having videos on screen in the car, but everyone is different. Just make sure to be responsible and keep the drive safe.
